Today someone did something very memorable for me;
they thanked me.

But not just over the phone or by email but through good old fashioned design, print and post, and although the items themselves are brilliant it’s the sentiment of sending anything in the first place that I love the most.

Well it’s a win:win isn’t it?

The sender shares their gratitude, promoting their own brand values and increasing awareness whilst the lucky recipient feels delighted, appreciated and brimming with pride. No one can lose in this equation.

So what do you do to say Thank You to the people you work with?

Are you doing enough, if anything at all?

It often only takes a small behaviour to make a lasting impression on someone’s perspective of you or your business so saying Thank You could be the one compelling behaviour you do for your business this year.

Remember, it’s not rocket science so don’t give yourself a nervous breakdown trying to think of something intricately clever and likewise, whatever you decide on doing certainly doesn’t have to break the bank but giving a little something out to those who’ve already committed to buying from you can go such a long way towards deep-rooting your relationship with them and opening new exciting opportunities.

Give yourself just 10 minutes this week to think about how you might show your appreciation to your loyal customers this year.

Let me introduce the vision and colours for Imaginista.

A creative and supportive marketing company based in Guildford, Surrey who helps small growing businesses get more brand traction through smart, creative marketing ideas.

Working with like-minded creatives can be a mixed bag of emotion for me; on the one hand it’s so exciting to know my design will inject more brand power into what they’re doing and yet on the other hand, I can’t help but put immense pressure on myself to get it right! Well, they’re creatives too! 🙂

Melanie is a fantastic lady with oodles of passion for what she does and a host of marketing experience she’s gathered over the years, she’s been a complete joy to work with and as a result, her branding journey has been so much fun. Melanie’s business has established itself a bit more over the last year and her customer base has not only started to grow but she’s started to attract the type of work she really loves the most, so now felt the right time to give her business an identity that does her expertise justice.

With a strong-minded, honest work ethic there’s no doubt that Melanie’s straight talking know-how gets results so whilst her gentle manner begged for visual tactility and warmth, there’s serious strength in what Imaginista can do for your business so finding the perfect balance between the two was the challenge.

After we’d discussed the brief it was clear Imaginista was an Autumnal business with a hint of Spring, so I set to work on the vision board and colours before moving onto the design. (Find out more about Autumn and Spring colour seasons and what they mean.)

Here are some shots of the vision board I created to set out the creative direction:

For those of you who don’t already know me, I’m Caroline; Brand Designer & Stylist, Creative Director and Owner of Making Waves.

About 3 months ago my world was turned upside down and I went from being a Creative Director at an established branding agency in Guildford, Surrey to packing my life into the back of our car to follow a dream of living by the sea.

It had always been a lifestyle change we’d planned for the future but my redundancy meant it was happening a lot sooner than we’d expected! Within 6 weeks we’d moved out of our home, relocated my husband’s joinery business, set up a new base in Devon with our two cats and everything was in place for me to launch Making Waves. It’s been exhausting, emotional and a big change we didn’t see coming but now the dust has settled, we’re so excited about what the future holds.

So why am I telling you all of this?

Well, I believe great design comes from the heart and from all of life’s rich experiences, big and small.
